Hawk Thoughts & Happenings
Team Pennoyer,
Wow, I guess the April Fools joke was the weather this week. It doesn't quite feel like spring, but looking ahead, it's gonna certainly get nicer around here. I don't know about all of you, but I can't wait for the warmer weather and more sunshine. I know we had a short week, but I felt like it was so productive from the very start on Tuesday during our Institute Day. I was so impressed with the amount of CLI work everyone completed. We're in a great place with our curriculum and only getting better with things each and every year. I really appreciate the focus, hard work, and dedication all of our teachers showed at the start of this week, and I want to thank the Leadership Team and Department Chairs for helping to facilitate so much of the day and help make it purposeful and meaningful for everyone. You're truly an incredible group of teacher leaders that I couldn't live without.
It was also nice to see our spring sports starting up this week with boys volleyball and girls soccer getting deeper into their seasons and some games starting too. I was talking to some of our teacher/coaches on Tuesday during the Institute Day, and it's so true...win or lose, there's always such great energy, spirit, and a turnout at our games that really showcases the culture here at Pennoyer. I never get sick of being around it, and it's always a great way to end a school day.
I got to talk to a lot of you throughout this week about Spring Break, and what was most enjoyable, was just hearing that many of you just relaxed and got to do nothing. I know sometimes those are the best breaks away from the hustle and grind that makes up our jobs. I thought I'd end this week with some really cool pics that one of my best friends Mitch sent to me. Over Spring Break, he scratched two things off his bucket list that I'm so jealous of. He's got a really cool job, marketing video games, that takes him all over the world sometimes. Last week he was in London to see a Premier League match with Chelsea playing Burnley. After that, he visited the rooftop building where the Beatles played their final live show in between recording their final album ever! I guess that's slightly better than my Spring Break, but I had to leave you all with a pic of Lennon and Jamee taking a seat during our tour of Indiana University where Jamee actually went to collage. I have to say, I didn't want to like it going in, but it really is a beautiful campus, and I can see why it's such a popular school.
*Note - Adam will be out with the 8th graders and some of our staff on the Washington DC trip next week from Wednesday, April 10th - Friday, April 12th. Rachel, our social work interns, and Alicia will be available each day for any staff or student support needed.

- Just a friendly reminder that we're getting ready for the new Skyward Qmlativ, and I wanted to share out information again that Patrick sent out a couple weeks ago.We are well into our migration from Skyward SMS to Skyward Qmlativ. The final data migration will take place in July, where we will be exclusively using Qmlativ by Skyward for our student information and business systems.Your teacher account for the Qmlativ test and training environment is now active and is accessible through the Pennoyer OneLogin portal. It is listed as Skyward Qmlativ. You will be able to use this database while training to practice what you have learned in the training modules. Please note that this is just a training environment, so you can explore and change whatever you want -- it will not affect REAL STUDENT/STAFF DATA and will be erased after the migration. The data in the training instance contains data that was migrated in October 2023, so you will not see any recent data that has been added since then. It is only a copy from October.
You should have already received an email with access to the Skyward Knowledge Hub, which contains all of the training tutorials to help you on your way to learning the system. You will be assigned training videos and tutorials that are specific to your role as a teacher. You will be able to watch the training videos and practice in the test environment well in advance of the actual migration so you are comfortable when the migration happens and you return from summer break. It is recommended that these assigned trainings will need to be completed by the end of April so that you have an opportunity to become familiar with the new platform. Feel free to reach out to Patrick with any questions.
Below is a sneak peak at the Qmlativ system. If you have a few minutes, take a look at some of the quick videos to get a look at the interface: - If you're interested in signing up to supervise and facilitate any Behavior Academies after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, feel free to sign up on the spreadsheet. Here's a reminder about the protocol for our Behavior Academies if you're interested. *New addition to the protocol...please make sure to let the supervising teacher know you're sending someone when you sign a student up for a Behavior Academy. Thanks to everyone who has been supporting these.
- Wanna make somebody's day at Pennoyer...don't forget about our staff shout outs we'd like to get started up again this year! It's real easy; if one staff member wants to give another staff member at Pennoyer a positive shout out for something that week, just send a quick email blurb to Adam, and he'll feature it in our weekly Hawk Happenings!
Great job with all the social media posts shared for the month of March! Keep it up in April. Here's the Google Form for teachers to complete. Thanks!!!

Hawk Celebrations
This past Wednesday, April 3rd, was Paraprofessionals Appreciation Day, so we wanted to celebrate this incredible group of staff members that we have here at Pennoyer this week! Without the every day support that these fabulous individuals provide, we could not function so successfully as a school. Our paras work so closely with our teachers and other support staff to help get the best from our students and meet them where they're at. They are collaborative, thoughtful, open-minded, caring, and so hard working. We can't thank them enough for their dedication they bring to Pennoyer each and every day. They support our students in and out of the classroom; during lunch/recess and during arrival and dismissal times as well. This is such a special group that we're truly lucky to have at Pennoyer. #Pennoyerpride definitely goes out to Ms. Barb, Ms. Ramia, Ms. Diana, Ms. Nataliia S., Ms. Nataliia H., Ms. Audrey, Ms. Monica, Ms. Viktoriia, Ms. Maria, Ms. Ivana, Ms. Halyna, and Ms. Shay!
